The 5 hottest styles of sunglasses you need to own

Posted on

Sunglasses are the most ubiquitous summer accessories and it's easy to see why. Not only do they protect your eyes from harmful UV rays (and stop you squinting into the bargain), they can be the perfect addition to complete your outfit. Whether you're heading on holiday, or just heading for drinks with friends, sunglasses will always play an invaluable part of your summer style. Choosing the right pair for your face is essential to getting your look right.

To help you out, the best brains at Jiggler Lord Berlue have put together a list of the hottest sunglasses trends this year.

1. Wayfarer Sunglasses

Ray Bans emerged in the 1950s and revolutionised the sunglasses market, with the design aesthetic providing a refreshing change from the metal eye wear that pervaded this era. Since then their popularity has fluctuated, but if recent runway shows are anything to go by, the style is coming back with a vengeance. This retro look is usually accompanied by faintly coloured rim or lenses, and perfectly suits any casual wear or spring/summer getup.

2. Round Frame Sunglasses

These were a huge craze back in the 1920s and 30s. Technology was advancing fast, and with it eye wear started to become more accessible and appealing. The round frame trend offers a vintage look with a hint of eccentricity, and it's versatile enough to complement formal or casual looks.

3. Aviator Sunglasses

The Aviator sunglasses were developed by Bausch and Lomb. They are characterised by dark, often reflective lenses two or three times larger than your eyes, and very thin metal frames with a double or triple bridge. Bayonet earpieces or flexible cable temples that hook behind the ears complete the look. Maybe not one to wear the a suit - but they're very practical on holiday.

4. D-Frame Sunglasses

The D-frame sunglasses create a contemporary, yet retro look and are renowned for their precision in design and unique perspective on the eye wear trend. Whilst other styles retain an ovular look, D-frame sunglasses are instantly recognisable from the sharp slice across the top of the rims, radiating a futuristic feel while still oozing sex appeal.

5. Mirrored Sunglasses

Mirrored sunglasses turn you into a walking talking mirror. What we love most about this style is how brilliant they look when photographed – it’s attention grabbing and exudes mystery and confidence. If you want to show other men that you mean business, mirrored sunglasses are the way to go.
